My Goal

Did you know that 65,000 Australians attempt to take their life each year? We believe that gives us 65,000 reasons to run for a great cause!

Every year over 65,000 Australians attempt to take their lives – that gives me 65,000 reasons to Tread As One.

R U OK?'s vision is a world where we're all connected and protected from suicide.

Their mission is to inspire and empower people to meaningfully connect and lend support to the people in their world who may be struggling with life.

I believe in their mission and will be running as far as I can and raising as much money and awareness as possible for this cause that’s close to my heart.

I’d really appreciate your support – every donation helps.

Your donation will help inspire people to take the time to ask "are you OK?" and listen, which can help people struggling with life feel connected long before they even think about suicide.

Thank you for your support, together we will make a difference as we Tread As One.

My Updates

Wednesday 12th May
Are you the one in eight Australians who is currently experiencing very high psychological distress?

Does knowing that you are not alone help?
Because, you're not.

9 Aussies died from suicide today and a further 30 people attempted to take their life (based of the findings of a report into suicide in Australia by the Australian Senate).

1 in every 250 Aussies are suffering from Severe Psychosis (schizophrenia being the most prevalent) according to the National Survey of People Living with Psychotic Illness.

The National Survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing tells us that 1 in 5 (20%) Aussies have experienced a mental disorder in the last 12 months. The National Health Survey confirmed these numbers with self reported data provided to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

46% of Aussies aged between 16 and 85 experience a mental disorder during their life (that's 11.5 million people).

So yeah, you're not alone.

BUT, sadly, the proportion of people with mental illness accessing treatment is HALF that of people with physical disorders accessing treatment (according to the National Mental Health Report).

Despite the lack of access to treatment, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare reports that over 4.3 million people received mental health-related prescriptions in 2018-19.

Please help me spread awareness and ensure no one feels alone. Donate to RU OK? who do a wonderful job of educating everyone about how to ask that life changing question.

Every $1 raised is 1 minute on the treadmill until 22 May 2021!
